Moran Prairie Library

6004 S. Regal St

Join us for a panel discussion featuring authors who have taken different paths to publishing their books, including independent publishing, self-publishing picture books and the tried and true with an agent and traditional publisher.

On the panel:

Author Matthew J. Kirby, whose second novel, ICEFALL, a Viking story set in Ancient Norway won the 2012 PEN Center USA Literary Award for Children’s Literature. Matthew is published by Scholastic Press and represented by Stephen Fraser with the Jennifer DeChiara Literary Agency.

Speaking on indie publishing: Author Meghan Nuttall Sayres whose latest release, NIGHT LETTER is just out from Nortia Press. It’s a sequel to her novel ANAHITA’S WOVEN RIDDLE a YALSA Top Ten Best Books for Young Adults.

Author/Illustrator Sharon Cramer will share her experience self-publishing her three-book series, COUGAR CUB TALES and new release picture book MARLOW AND THE MONSTER. The COUGAR CUB series is a Distinguished Honoree of the Mom’s Choice Awards and individual books have won Gold and Silver Medals at the Mom’s Choice Awards.

Panel presentation followed by Q & A.

Arrive early at 12:30pm for a quick tour/Q&A of the International SCBWI website. Don’t miss this if you have been unable to open and read regional newsletters, have not found the list of agents and editors, don’t know about the 18 different awards and grants open to members or have questions about how SCBWI can help you submit your manscript or artwork.

After the main panel we’ll have an informal critique group for people who want to stay and share manuscripts.
